
The Chesapeake Garden Club (CGC) began in 1958 and became an official part of the Maryland Federated Garden Clubs in 1960. For over 60 years, CGC has been an integral part of the Calvert County community.

We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month from September through June at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 Lower Marlboro Road, Sunderland, Maryland. December and June meetings are typically special events and held at alternate locations.
Currently CGC:
· Inform and instruct members on environmental issues
· Learn about MD native plants
· Teach members on Bay Wise techniques to certify their yards through the University of MD Extension Service
· Offer seasonal classes to members and community guests
· Assist churches with seasonal decorations
· Work with senior citizens in garden therapy
· Maintain numerous gardens including
o Fairview Library Branch
o All Saints Appreciation Garden
· Participate in the Calvert County Fair
· Offer scholarships through the Chesapeake Biological Lab, University of MD
· Bring joy to the residents at Calvert Nursing Home with small floral offerings
· And continue to bring plants and gifts through the annual plant sale in May to raise funds for charity and community work.
This coming year, the CGC initiatives are:
o The establishment of a high school horticultural scholarship
o A Blue Star Memorial in the Northern end of Calvert, and
o Continue to make a difference in the environment.
